Dear Constituent,

I have been selected to contest the upcoming General Election for Fine Gael in the constituency of Cork North West. Following the Local Elections in May, I was re-elected to Cork County Council in the Kanturk/Charleville Electoral Area. With 2,314 first-preference votes, I was elected on the first count. My sincere thanks to everyone who supported me; it was a pleasure to meet so many people during the election campaign.

Having officially opened my constituency office in Kanturk in November 2018, which is open to the public five days a week, I am delighted to open a second constituency office in Charleville. Both offices are open to anyone who needs my assistance, advice or support. I am proud to represent the Kanturk/Charleville area. In being your elected public representative, I intend to carry out this work to the very best of my ability, and I aim to support every person and group that seeks my help.

I am also proud to be standing for Fine Gael in the upcoming General Election. I have been an elected Councillor in Cork County Council since 2009 and that role has given me a great insight into the needs of the people in the area and how I as a public representative can assist the public, both at local and national level.

As well as 10 years’ experience as a Councillor, I served as the Mayor of County Cork in 2015/16 and I am currently the Leader of the Fine Gael Grouping in Cork County Council. If elected to Dáil Éireann, under the leadership of An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar TD, I know I can play a very positive role in representing the people of Cork North West.

The Fine Geal party’s ambition for Ireland is to build a Republic of Opportunity – supporting you and your family, strengthening your community and building a sustainable future for everyone. The party is focused on protecting our economy and making people’s lives better, particularly for hard-pressed working families.

I want to make sure that the Cork North West constituency shares in this opportunity. Ahead of the General Election, I look forward to meeting with people in communities right across Cork North West. If anyone has any queries or is in need of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me or call into my constituency offices in either Kanturk or Charleville.

Thank you,

John Paul
