Baile Glas and Gort Na Coille housing estates in Lombardstown are gleaming this week with the completion of a €40,000 facelift to their estates and green areas.
The enhancement works which included the upgrading of the green area, refurbishment of pathways, extra tree and shrub planting, improvement to the car parking area, provision of additional seating and a relaxation area were just some of the works undertaken by the Baile Glas/Gort Na Coille Residents Association in partnership with Avondhu Blackwater Partnership and Cork County Council.
Welcoming the completion of the enhancement works, Chair of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District and local Independent Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea said “This is a great achievement for the residents in both Baile Glas and Gort Na Coille estates. Not only have these works be of great benefit to all the residents in the estates, but it is also of great benefit to the entire community of Lombarsdtown. We now have a fantastic amenity within the environs of these estates. It is important we do as much as possible to support people like the Baile Glas/Gort Na Coille Residents Association to be a part of maintaining and enhancing their facilities into the future”.
Cllr. O’ Shea added “We really saw a need here and wanted to improve the appearance of these estates. This project has brought about a great sense of community spirit and willingness and I want to say a special word of thanks to all the team in Avondhu Blackwater Partnership for their assistance to the Residents Association in recent months ensuring this project proceeded. I am delighted funding was received from Avondhu Blackwater Partnership and Cork County Council for these works which I know will only strengthen the community in Lombardstown further into the future. I would also like to acknowledge the support of Clann Credo, the Social Financing Agency for Communities, who bankrolled this project on our behalf”.
