Kanturk Mallow Municipal District Publishes Mallow Town Centre Improvement Strategy

At the April Meeting of Cork County Council’s Kanturk Mallow Municipal District, Mary Hayes, Senior Executive Officer presented the Mallow Town Centre Improvement Strategy.

8 key temes are detailed, each with underlying projects areas which the Council will be working in partnership with local business and groups in Mallow to deliver:

1. Town Centre Appearance improvement
Scheme
2. Town Centre Streetscape/Environmental
improvements
3. Investing in retail & employment
opportunities
4. Parking & Accessibility
5. Tourism, Festivals & Events
6. Visitor destination improvements
7. Marketing and Innovation
8. Key Strategic Capital Projects

 

Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea (Ind) said “This is another positive step for Mallow town, which is the largest town in the county outside of metropolitan Cork. There is great work ongoing in Mallow Town between all stakeholders, both statutory and voluntary and this strategy allows each of them to work collectively with Cork County Council to improve the core center of Mallow Town. I look forward to working with Cork County Council staff and all other stakeholders in implementing this strategy over the coming months”.

Mallow Painting Scheme

Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea with colleagues and staff from Cork County Council and members of the Mallow Tidy Towns Committee at the launch of the Mallow Town Centre Painting, Signage & Street Improvement Scheme.

James Fogarty, Divisional Manager went on to say, “The Mallow Town Centre Improvement Strategy will allow us to work together to bring investment to Mallow, to revitalise the town centre and to project a positive image giving confidence to investors, businesses and the local community. The Council recognises the need of providing a clear road map in setting a future vision for Mallow, key projects in the strategy include transforming the appearance of the streetscape through the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Painting, Signage and Improvement Scheme which this year is refocused to encourage take-up on all of Davis Street, the North Cork Arts Centre and the development of Mallow Castle grounds as a key amenity area for the people of Cork. The strategy highlights the commitment of Cork County Council to all the towns and villages across Cork County.”
