The November meeting of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of Cork County Council will take place on Friday, 4th November 2016 in the County Council Offices at Anabella, Mallow, Co Cork.
These meetings are held once a month, where the six councillors representing the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area meet with the engineers that cover the area. Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of three motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to day to day services provided by Cork County Council, such as roads, water, housing, waste water etc… The engineers have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.
My motions for the November meeting are as follows:
“That Cork County Council would repair the areas of blacktop that are failing from Bweeng village towards Bweeng National School. When this section of road is repaired, appropriate installation of traffic calming measures should also be prioritised as there is currently a speed issue here”.
“That Senior Management in the Roads Directorate of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would initiate and lead discussions with all appropriate educational institutions, businesses and agencies in order to agree a programme of works and list of priorities to alleviate traffic congestion in the Bathview/Spa Glen area of Mallow”.
“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would support Buttevant Community Council and the town of Buttevant in preparation for their special Christmas event which in turn in co-coinciding with the re-opening of the main street following the lengthy streetscape works. The Town of Buttevant has suffered significantly economically and socially during this time and every effort should be put in place to promote Buttevant as a great place to live, visit an do business in into the future”.
