Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Meeting – October 2017

Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Meeting – October 2017

The October meeting of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of Cork County Council will take place on Friday, 6th October next in the Council Offices, Anabella, Mallow, Co Cork.

These meetings are held once a month, where the six councillors representing the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area meet with the engineers that cover the area. Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of three motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to day to day services provided by Cork County Council, such as roads, water, housing, waste water etc… The engineers have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.

My motions for the October meeting are as follows:

“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would install a small section of footpath connecting Kanturk Castle to the Town of Kanturk. There is a small section of footpath missing and it is important this connectivity is provided for to encourage the full use of the Castle with the Town. A report should also be made available on the possibility of extending the footpath to Jacko’s Cross, Kanturk as this is a very popular walking route for the people of Kanturk.”

“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would support the Kanturk/Millstreet branch of the Irish Red Cross in acquiring a new premises in Kanturk in order to cater for their future needs. The current premises is unsuitable for the very expanding branch of 8o members.”

“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would provide a report on the pilot pay parking arrangements that were put in place in Mallow from May – August 2017 as part of the Mallow Town Centre Improvement Strategy and to outline what further changes can be made in order to streamline the pay parking arrangements in order to benefit the economic and social fabric of the town into the future.”
