North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed the publication of a tender for works on refurbishing the playground in Kanturk. Cork County Council, in partnership with Kanturk and District Community Council, is currently seeking tenders for the design, supply, installation and upgrade of an enhanced playground at Kanturk Town Park.
Cllr. O’Shea commented: “This is very exciting news for Kanturk. The existing playground was installed in 2005 and both it and the Town Park as a whole caters to the significant population living in Kanturk and its catchment area. It is a very popular amenity in Kanturk and plans to upgrade the playground are very welcome.”
The following works have been proposed by Cork County Council: placement of soft pour about all play areas and remove the existing tiles; installation of new equipment including, but not limited to, wheelchair accessible roundabout, climbing space net, junior multi-play area and spinning cup; and the refurbishment/cleaning/
“Playgrounds are a vital amenity in our communities and the plans to enhance the existing facilities in Kanturk Town Park shows Cork County Council’s commitment to local communities and to provide recreational amenities to younger people. I look forward to the appointing of a contractor for this project and to seeing the finished product, which I am sure will prove a hit, especially among young people and families,” Cllr. O’Shea added.
The closing date for tenders is 3pm on Friday, June 7th 2019.
