Mallow Recycling Centre has this week received an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Licence to accept domestic waste and bulky materials at the facility.
This allows Mallow Recycling Centre to accept materials such as domestic household waste / black bag waste) and bulky materials such as beds, mattresses, carpet, lino, sofas and settees, and many more waste materials. This is in addition to the many other materials already accepted at the centre.
Welcoming the expansion of services at Mallow Recycling Centre, local Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea (Ind) said “This is very welcome news for Mallow Town and its environs. Management and staff of Mallow Recycling Centre are working hard to establish the centre as a major asset and amenity for the area, which is already well utilised and I strongly believe this expansion of services can make the centre an essential amenity for the area and ensuring its viability into the future”.
Cork County Council continues to encourage people to start recycling and to repeat this practice frequently – a regular trip to the recycling centre, say once or twice a month means that for no more than €3 entry fee per visit, most households can dispose of the majority of their recyclable materials in a safe and proper manner.
Cllr. O’ Shea added “I hope that this new service will provide the public and local businesses with further options for how to manage their waste and recycling at a more cost effective basis. Cork County Council, on my request, will be undergoing an significant advertising campaign in the coming weeks advising the general public and local businesses of the existing and new services available at Mallow Recycling Centre and I would encourage everybody in Mallow and its environs to utilise this amenity that is at their disposal”.
