Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development to discuss Pre-Budget Submissions with Rehab and European Anti-Poverty Network

Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development to discuss Pre-Budget Submissions with Rehab and European Anti-Poverty Network

The Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 1 July, to discuss Pre-budget Submissions with stakeholders.

The meeting at 9:30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from representatives from the Rehab Group and the European Anti-Poverty Network Ireland.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Paul O’Shea said: “As part of its pre-Budget scrutiny process, the Committee sought Pre-Budget submissions from members of the public, stakeholders and interested parties. The Committee would like to thank all those who took the time to make a submission and give their views on what Budget 2027 should contain.

“These submissions will now feed into our examination of the overall fiscal position, public expenditure policy, exchequer receipts policy, and matters which have a significant impact on the budgetary position or fiscal policy of both the Department of Social Protection and the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.

“This week we will examine some of the submissions received, focusing on Social Protection and poverty and disability issues. The Committee looks forward to a wide-ranging discussion on the Budget process and related matters.”

The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
