Applications welcome for Cork County Local Festival Fund – O’Shea

Applications welcome for Cork County Local Festival Fund – O’Shea

Applications for the Cork County Local Festival Fund are now being welcomed, Cork North West Fine Gael General Election candidate Councillor John Paul O’Shea has said.

Formerly known as the Fáilte Ireland Regional Festival Fund, the tourism section of Cork County Council took over management of the annual Local Festival Fund in 2018.

The Local Festival Fund supports festivals which target domestic tourism in particular and welcomes applications from festivals/events with a minimum spend of €7,500 which generate at least 350 bed nights in the local community.

A total of €65,000 is available through this fund in 2020, and applicants can apply for amounts ranging from €500 up to a maximum of €6,000 per festival.

In 2019, 37 applications were received; 30 of these met the criteria and were subsequently awarded funding.

Cllr. O’Shea said: “I would encourage festival and event organisers to take a look at the criteria for this funding and consider making an application. There is an extensive range of festivals taking place throughout County Cork each year and it is excellent that the Council is willing and able to offer its support to organisers through this Fund.”

The Festival Fund Criteria and online application will be available on https://www.yourcouncil.ie/service/Local_Festival_Fund and will close on Friday 10th January, 2020 at 5.00pm.
