The formal Part 8 process for Buttevant streetscape has been published by Cork County Council which is wonderful news for the town.
Works will include reconstruction of existing road pavement, upgrading of existing footpaths and laying of new footpaths, re-arrangement of on-street parking, surface water improvement works, public lighting, undergrounding of existing services, improved pedestrian crossing facilities and alterations to the Lisgriffin and Liscarrol/Churchtown junctions.
€2m has been provided by the NRA to Cork County Council for these works over the next two years but this is not enough to complete the full works needed. Estimated cost is in region of €3.5m. I will continue to keep the pressure on the NRA to ensure we get all of Buttevant Town upgraded as it is long overdue for the people of Buttevant and the commuters who pass through it everyday.
