Calling All Potential Apprentices – Upcoming Information Evening

Calling All Potential Apprentices – Upcoming Information Evening

Avondhu Blackwater Partnership are coordinating and hosting an Apprenticeship Information Evening at their offices in The Mill, Castletownroche on Wednesday 18th April from 7.00pm until 9.00pm.

The purpose of this initiative is to provide young people who are interested in pursuing an apprenticeship with the opportunity to speak with the Apprenticeship Coordinator from Cork Education and Training Board, Elaine Murphy.  Elaine will be present on the night to present information on the range of apprenticeships on offer and to answer any questions.

Apprenticeship is the recognised means by which people are trained to become craftspeople in Ireland. The benefits for employers of engaging in the Apprenticeship model are many, including:

  • Apprenticeship courses are based on uniform, pre-specified and industry agreed standards;
  • Apprenticeship courses comply with current and future needs of the chosen occupation;
  • Through the systematic development and assessment of skills, knowledge and competencies, apprentices become more productive and reach efficient worker standards more quickly;
  • Apprentices receive a Training Allowance while attending off-the-job training.

We would also like to take this opportunity to invite local employers who are interested in engaging with the apprenticeship process.   This is an excellent opportunity for qualified craftspeople to train and mentor a young person in their chosen skill and to ensure that industry can be supplied with highly qualified craftspeople for the future.

Refreshments will be provided and all are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
