North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed confirmation that more than €112,000 has been allocated to Charleville Golf Club for the purchase of new equipment. Funding is being made available by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport through the Sports Capital Programme.
Funding has been allocated to dozens of sporting groups across County Cork, including €1,593 for Kanturk Hillwalkers & Mountain Climbers, €11,845 for Mallow Swans Swimming Club and €11,298 for Donoughmore Hurling & Football Club. Full Sports Capital Funding will be announced later in 2019.
Welcoming the allocations, Cllr. O’Shea said: “This is positive news and I congratulate the successful sporting organisations, especially those in North Cork. This funding will go towards new equipment and facilities which benefit both existing members of these groups as well as encourage new members to get involved. Sport is at the heart of community life in Cork and it is heartening to see the government is fully behind the organisations who are so important to this.”
