North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed the commencement of construction on a 25-unit housing estate on the outskirts of Kanturk this month.
“I warmly welcome the commencement of works on this site along Mill View Road, Coolacoosane, Kanturk. The housing need across Cork and the entire country is well documented and such developments like this one are to be encouraged and supported,” Cllr O’Shea said.
“The residential development will consist of a variety of housing, including one two-bedroom bungalow, 16 three-bedroom semi-detached units, two four-bedroom semi-detached units, four two-bedroom townhouses and two three-bedroom townhouses.

“Under the Turnkey Development call for proposals issued by Cork County Council last year, this development was chosen by Cork County Council as a key turnkey project whereby these 25 houses which will be constructed privately will be made available fully for Council use once complete. I look forward to seeing these houses being advertised on the Council’s Choice Based Letting website in the near future.
“Additionally, under the Council’s Recreation and Amenity Policy, provision has been made to include one neighbourhood play area and one local play area within the housing estate.
“I am encouraged to see such housing developments within my Municipal District and especially in Kanturk, a vibrant town with an excellent community spirit. I along with my party colleagues in Fine Gael will continue to support the construction of new residential developments, both private and social across the county of Cork,” said Cllr O’Shea.
