Delighted to get confirmation by Cork County Council that 31 projects have been provisionally approved by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) for total funding of €1,000,265.28 under the Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP), Strand 1.
The Community Climate Action Programme (CCAP) is a new programme developed by the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) to address climate change at a local level and aims to support and empower communities to shape and build low carbon, sustainable communities to contribute to national climate and energy targets.
Some of the groups in this area who will receive funding are as follows:
Banteer Community Sportsfield Ltd – Installation of solar PV panels and battery storage on sports building to reduce energy costs = €54,718.35
Charleville Community Sports Complex Limited (CCSC) – Deep retrofit of an existing sports building and the installation of solar PV panels to reduce energy costs = €97,924.88
Coachford AFC – Installation of solar PV panels on sports building to reduce energy costs = €29,226.25
Friends of Firmount – Deep retrofit of an existing community building to reduce energy costs = €98,455.00
Kanturk & District Community Council – Installation of solar PV panels and battery storage on two community buildings to reduce energy costs = €32,300.00
Kilbrin Community Council – Installation of solar PV panels and battery storage on a community building to reduce energy costs = €28,975.00
Kilshannig GAA – Installation of solar PV panels and battery storage on sports building to reduce energy costs and LED lighting for existing walkway = €88,842.13
Macroom Tidy Towns – Upgrade of existing path to develop an active travel cycleway/pathway = €97,246.80
Mallow Tidy Towns – Installation of bike racks/public seating from repurposed retired wind turbine blade in the town to enhance active travel facilities and improve uptake = €12,300.00
Milford Area Community Council – Installation of solar PV panels and battery storage on community building to reduce energy costs and upgrade of internal lighting to LED = €12,025.00
Mourneabbey Community Council – Installation of solar PV panels and battery storage on a community building to reduce energy costs, as well as the installation of an EV charging point = €36,326.00
The Schoolyard Theatre and Arts Centre – Energy retrofit of inefficient historic community building to improve energy efficiency and reduce heat loss and associated costs = €57,788.52
