Cork County Council has this week made a call for applications under the Arts Grant Scheme 2015. The annual scheme offers financial contributions to a variety of groups and individual artists in County Cork who wish to engage in the promotion of arts activities or events during 2015.
Grant assistance will be awarded where applications meet the artistic and financial requirements set down by Cork County Council. The principles governing the operation of the Arts Grants Scheme are set out in the 2003 Arts Act, which enables a local authority to make financial or other assistance available for the purposes of stimulating public interest in the arts, promoting knowledge, appreciation and promotion of the arts and improving standards in the arts.
Welcoming the Arts Grant Scheme for 2015, Chairman of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District, Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea (Ind) said “the commitment of Cork County Council to continue the Arts Scheme in 2015 is indeed a very positive move. The variety of such innovative arts that have been allocated funding here previously is immense and represents the talent and commitment of all community groups and individual artists we have within the county”.
The objectives of the scheme is to support the work of locally based arts organisations, encourage new and innovative arts projects and support the involvement of professional artists and organisations in community based arts projects.
Cllr. O’ Shea added “I wish all these groups and individuals every success in the application process. Even in these difficult economic times, it is heartening that Cork County Council continues to be in a position to provide financial assistance to support the wide range of arts projects throughout North Cork”.
