County Mayor visits Tractor Ted in Action On “The Farm” in Grenagh

A much loved kids TV character is to become a new fixture at The Farm, Grenagh. Tractor Ted, the little green cartoon tractor, will be the new face welcoming visitors to Tractor Ted’s Little Farm, the latest attraction at the ever expanding Cork open farm.

Ahead of the summer season and in order to facilitate Tractor Ted’s arrival to The Farm, almost €30,000 has been spent upgrading & enhancing existing facilities on The Farm as well as creating new amenities such as an animal interaction area and digger den. The expansion will also create an additional 4 positions – bringing to 12 the total number employed.

“The arrival of Tractor Ted has breathed a new lease of life into The Farm, as we enter our 4th year of business”, says Operations Manager Marie Forde. “We are delighted that Tractor Ted will be exclusively joining the team here at The Farm, Grenagh for the next 3 years and we look forward to welcoming his little fans from all over the country to his new home in Cork”.

Fun learning is key to the Tractor Ted Little Farm experience – you can see how a cow is milked, learn about butter churning and watch as the silage is cut or the hay is taken in, something The Farm, Grenagh has always been passionate about. Tractor Ted co-founder David Horler says, “The Farm at Grenagh is a fantastic venue and I am sure Tractor Ted will find himself very much at home here. What better place to enjoy yourself and discover the world of agriculture in the company of everyone’s favourite little green tractor?” he added.

To celebrate Tractor Ted’s arrival, The Farm, Grenagh will host an official Visitor Launch Party on Bank Holiday Sunday, May1st, where visitors can enjoy pony rides, face painting, sheep shearing and lots of other farm-based fun and games alongside the other attractions including the barrel ride, milking demonstrations and petting time. The Tractor Ted Live Events Team will also be joining the fun and bringing along the Tractor Ted bouncy castle, welly throwing, a giant Tractor Ted jigsaw puzzle and lots of Tractor Ted related activities.

The Farm at Grenagh is all about kids having fun and, with over 40 acres of land to explore, they’ll be entertained for hours! There are plenty of activities both inside and out on this traditional open working farm including a ball pool and sand pit, ‘kidbine’ harvester, slides, swings and more. You can travel around The Farm on the new Tractor Ted Trailer Ride, catch a lift on the Barrel Ride or hop on the pedal karts, mini tractors and test your flying skills on the zip wire! Plus there are lots of opportunities for hands on animal encounters with cows, sheep, horses, hens, ducks, pigs, puppies, birds and donkeys.

The Tractor Ted Little Farm will officially open to the public at The Farm at Grenagh on Sunday, May 1st from 11am.  For more information check out the newly designed website visitthefarm.ie or facebook.com/TheFarmGrenagh

ABOUT TRACTOR TED

The brainchild of childhood farming friends David Horler and Alexandra Heard, Tractor Ted began life back in 2002 when Alexandra noticed her three small children were fascinated by a short video at the end of a cartoon which featured a real tractor ploughing a field.

The idea took hold to make a video for young children which showed real farm machinery at work.

This simple concept proved a winner not only with children but their parents, grandparents and teachers alike and today Tractor Ted is an international favourite with over 90,000 DVDs and 40,000 books sold each year.
