A total of €160,000 will be provided to disadvantaged communities in rural and urban areas in Cork County through the 2019 Community Enhancement Programme, North Cork Fine Gael Councillor John Paul O’Shea has confirmed.
Examples of eligible capital expenditure under the Programme include: youth clubs or facilities; sports/recreation facilities; development and improvements to community centres and common areas; once-off maintenance of premises; upgrades to community amenities/equipment; and energy efficiency-based projects.
Cllr. O’Shea said: “This Programme proved to be very successful last year and provided much-needed funding to our local communities to enhance facilities in disadvantaged areas. Some of the funding is ring-fenced for smaller projects, from lawnmowers and IT equipment to minor renovations in buildings. It also provides funding for larger projects and is an important programme for supporting valuable work by Cork communities.
“Fine Gael is committed to ensuring that rural Ireland is support, so that it can achieve its full potential across a range of areas and this funding is an example of that commitment. I would encourage communities to make applications and I will be happy to assist in the application process.”
Applications can be made online at www.yourcouncil.ie. The closing date for applications is 4pm on Friday, 28th June 2019.
