€5m to be allocated nationally to disadvantaged communities from the Dormant Accounts Fund

€5m from the Dormant Accounts Fund has been made available to provide a range of supports for disadvantaged groups and local communities.

The new round of funding includes measures to promote youth employment; supports for home carers; capital grants for social enterprises; initiatives to prevent substance misuse; and supports for people with disabilities.

The Dormant Accounts Action Plan 2014 allows for applications to be sought from eligible organisations under the following 8 measures –

  • Social Enterprise – €1,000,000
  • Youth Employment – €500,000
  • Support for Home Carers – €970,000
  • Substance Misuse & Prevention – €970,000
  • Local Area Co-ordination (Disability Services) – €480,000
  • Achieving HIQA Standards for Residential Centres for People with Disabilities – €480,000
  • Support for Young People with Disabilities, including Autism – €335,000
  • Non-Centre Based Respite Services – €335,000

The eight new measures will be administered and managed by Pobal and applications will be open to eligible community and voluntary sector organisations, local development companies and statutory and other public agencies from 1st July with a closing date of 22nd July 2015. It will be an online application process.

Pobal will be providing a series of four regional pre-application information meetings which will take place during the month of June. The meeting for the South will take place in the Charleville Park Hotel, Charleville on Thursday 25th June 2015 from 10-30am to 1.30pm.
