Enabling works have commenced today, 24th September 2018 on site to make way for the construction of a new Primary School in Kanturk.
Jointly welcoming the commencement of the enabling works, local Fine Gael Councillors Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea and Cllr. Gerard Murphy said ” We are delighted to finally see progress on site this morning. The Department of Education and Skills obtained the relevant licences from the County Council to construct a portion of new road from Mill Road to the school entrance. There are enabling works to be completed to relocate underground the ESB power cables that traverse the site and these are the works that are taking place now and over the coming weeks".
"This will in turn pave the way on completion of these works for the OPW to proceed to tender for the Main Works Contractor for the New School. Both of us as local representatives are very conscious of the fact that there has been a significant delay in the progess of this new school over the last number of years. However, today is an important step forward for both schools and in particular, the pupils, staff and parents of the both Schools”.
