Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development to discuss Community Welfare Service and Supplementary Welfare Payments

The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 10 December, to discuss the Community Welfare Service (CWS) and Supplementary Welfare Payments with officials from the Department of Social Protection.

 

Ahead of the meeting at 9:30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Paul O’Shea said: “The focus for this meeting will be on the Community Welfare Service and provision of supplementary welfare payments. Matters of interest for the Committee include the centralisation of the CWS, accessibility of CWS and access to community welfare officers and the appeals process. The Committee looks forward to a comprehensive update on these and related matters from the Department officials.”

 

The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
