Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development to discuss LEADER Programme and Rural Development

The Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 4 March, to discuss the LEADER Programme and Rural Development.
The meeting at 9:30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from officials from the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and from Pobal.
Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Paul O’Shea said: “The Committee welcomes this engagement with officials from both the Department and Pobal to discuss policy and administration of the programme.
“LEADER provides a valuable contribution to communities across the country and this meeting provides an opportunity to review the 2023-2027 programme as well as looking to the future in terms of the design and funding of the new programme as part of the new EU budget discussions.
“This discussion on policy overview and developments will be followed in due course with a discussion with representatives from Local Action Groups to gain insights regarding operations at a local level.”
