Jun 23, 2026
The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 24 June, to discuss ‘Pathways to Inclusive Employment – Workability Programmes’.
The meeting at 9:30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from representatives from FIT (Fastrack into Technology) CLG, Galway Rural Development Company and Youth Work Ireland Tipperary.
Ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Paul O’Shea said: “The Workability Programme funds local, regional and national projects who provide progressive pathways and employment through education, training, skills development and in work supports for people based on their needs, their abilities and their potential.
“The Committee will engage with representatives on three programmes across three regions on the programme objectives, including improving the employment prospects of people with disabilities, building the capacity of employers to recruit, retain and progress participants within their workforce and facilitating new partnerships amongst stakeholders.
“Members look forward to hearing insights from three different programme models focusing on youth, pathways to tech employment and the ‘Journey Ahead’ Programme provided by Galway RDC. This meeting affords an opportunity to discuss the supports available to both participants and prospective employers and the real, meaningful, and lifelong outcomes that result from inclusive employment through the workability programme.”
The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.
Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
