Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Meeting – February 2018

Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Meeting – February 2018

The February meeting of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of Cork County Council will take place on Friday, 2nd February 2018 in the Council Offices, Anabella, Mallow, Co Cork.

These meetings are held once a month, where the six councillors representing the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area meet with the engineers that cover the area. Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of three motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to day to day services provided by Cork County Council, such as roads, water, housing, waste water etc… The engineers have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.

My motions for the February meeting are as follows:

“That the Kanturk/Mallow MD would seek clarify from The Heritage Council and the Minister for Culture, Heritage & the Gaeltacht in relation to the restructuring of the Irish Walled Town Network (IWTN) within the Heritage Council. There are real fears within Buttevant who is a member of the IWTN that if the restructuring proceeds, there will be a severe cut in its funding, particularly in relation to education, training and its ability to offer grants to towns in the IWTN into the future”.

“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would outline the current timeframe for tending and commencing the grass cutting contract for 2018 and outline what agreements have the Municipal District Office and the Housing Directorate made with local communities on carrying out such duties in 2018 and into the future as discussed in 2017”

“That the members of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would get an update on the N20 Mallow Relief Road in light of the recent announcement by the Minister for Transport Shane Ross, T.D. of enhanced road investment for the period 2018-2021 and also in relation to the works carried out during 2018 as part of the TII allocation of €300,000 in the recent National Roads Allocation for 2018″.
