The September meeting of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of Cork County Council will take place on Friday, 5th September 2014 in the County Council Offices at Annabella, Mallow.
These meetings are held once a month, where the six councillors representing the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area meet with the engineers that cover the area.
Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of three motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to day to day services provided by Cork County Council, such as roads, water, housing, waste water etc… I always submit the max number of motions!! The engineers have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.
My motions for the September meeting are as follows:
That the executive of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would prepare and present a programme of works to members similar to the annual roadworks programme outlining which roads in the district will receive drainage works over the next few months and also a programme of works outlining when surface water gullies and drains in villages and towns within the district will be cleaned/emptied in preparation for the winter”.
“That the executive of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would pro-actively communicate with the relevant stakeholders such as the North Cork IFA, ICMSA, ICA, Teagasc, Coillte etc. in the district with regard to landowners responsibility of cutting their hedgerows between 31st August and March 1st as some of our rural roads are very overgrown presently”.
“That the executive of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District provides a report to members outlining why there is no public lighting working within the majority of the Gooldshill Housing Estate, Mallow since December 2013 and when it is proposed that residents in this estate will likely see street lighting restored”.
