Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea is urging landowners who planted an ash forest with a grant from the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, and have not yet cleared affected trees, to apply for the ‘Reconstitution for Ash Dieback Scheme 2023 -2027’.
The Department has received 117 applications to date in 2025 representing 464.24 hectares under the Reconstitution Ash Dieback Scheme. A total of €3,267,144 has been paid to date in 2025 in relation to ash dieback, this includes payments under reconstitution schemes and the Climate Action Performance Payment, which may be availed of once reconstitution under the Departmental scheme has taken place.
Deputy O’Shea said “We need to do all what we can here to clear affected trees. This scheme will pay for site clearance and replanting, so I am encouraging all landowners to apply without delay. I would also encourage those owners who previously joined a Reconstitution Scheme may now apply for the CAPP payment, which is €5,000 per hectare, paid in three instalments”.
