Latest update on water situation in Mallow & North Cork Area – Tuesday 4th January 2011

The following is the up to date position on Water Supplies in the Mallow & North Cork region as of today, Tuesday 4th January 2011

Mallow;

 The Reservoir level is still low and interruptions will continue in the coming days due to the excessive demand. However, most areas now have an uninterrupted supply and all areas have a supply for some period daily. River Valley, Cairn Woods and Tinley Park will be turned off again tonight in order to provide a supply to adjacent higher parts of the town in Spa Glen / Ironmines area. The Gooldshill Estate area is still without a supply due to a break within that estate.

Tankers will continue to supply water daily at Gooldshill Housing Estate (on the entrance road from the Cork Road) & Bowling Green car park from 12.00noon to 6.00pm.

Repair crews are working throughout the area.

Charleville;

 The Charleville supply has been restored. However, water levels in reservoirs are still low.

Mitchelstown;

 There are no significant problems in the Mitchelstown area eventhough water levels in reservoirs are still low.

Millstreet;

There are no significant problems in the Millstreet Area and water levels in reservoirs have recovered.

Fermoy;

There are no significant problems in the Fermoy Area eventhough reservoir levels are still low.

Newmarket/Kanturk;

The reservoirs in Kanturk and Newmarket are still recovering.

Cork County Council plumbing crews are working on identifying and repairing breaks / leaks and are asking the public to conserve water where possible and check unoccupied dwellings / properties / farms for any leaks / breaks.

Cork County Council acknowledges and appreciates the continued co-operation of water consumers.
