Local Link Cork provides the first of its new Evening Bus Services in North Cork

Villages of Banteer, Lyre, Nadd, Kilcorney, Rathcoole & Dromagh to benefit from inaugural service

A local rural door to door bus evening service will commence this Sunday 22nd July in North Cork with the villages of Banteer, Lyre, Nadd, Kilcorney, Rathcoole & Dromagh all to benefit from this inaugural service.

The new service will run each Sunday evening from this Sunday 22nd July 2018. The bus will pick people up along the way and arrive in Banteer village in time for 7pm Sunday evening mass. The service will then go via Nadd, Lyre,  Mol Carthys Bridge, Rathcoole, Sandpit House, Dromagh and back to Banteer. I will  go off the main roads to collect and drop people at their homes. Local businesses and community organisations all have different events ongoing so it will be a great way to get to and from these events. The Glen Theatre  is also on the route for people to go to the many events they have on a regular basis.

Welcoming the new transport service to North Cork, local Councillor John Paul O’ Shea (FG) said “This new service is part of over 50 new services nationally announced recently by the National Transport Authority which will provide essential evening and night time transport services to people in rural areas. Some people may use the service to go for example from Nadd to Rathcoole to meet up with a neighbour or a friend and someone else may wish to come from Dromagh to Banteer to an event in the village. Whatever the reason for to travel, the service is there for all to use now and to also get the return journey on the way home. The new service is available to everyone, both young and old for a very minimal charge with free travel passes also accepted on the service. I would encourage everybody in these areas to embrace the new service and use it as much as possible.”

To make a booking for this new service commencing on this Sunday 22nd July, please contact operator Anthony Ahern, GKW Coaches on 086-7858525 giving as much notice as possible.

Other services throughout North Cork will be rolled out in the coming weeks. For any queries on upcoming services, please contact Local Link Cork on 025–51454.
