The May meeting of the Mallow Area Committee took place today, Tuesday 8th May 2012 in the County Council Offices at Annabella, Mallow.
These meetings are held once a month, where the five councillors representing the Mallow Electoral Area and the Mayors of Mallow Town meet with the engineers that cover the Mallow Area.
Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of six motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to services such as road maintenance, water services, waste water services, housing etc. The engineers normally have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.
My motions for the meeting were as follows:
“That Cork County Council alleviates the problem of surface water entering the entrances to the Finnegan & Buckley households, Mountnorth, Ballyclough”.
“That Cork County Council Area Engineers Office liaises with the Estates & Housing Departments regarding the drainage issues arising from surface water entering the three vacant Local Authority houses in Droimneach, Bweeng, which have been earmarked for social leasing”.
“That Cork County Council undertakes an assessment of the current parking situation at Glantane National School, do repair works to the road/side margin across from the school and consider traffic calming measures in this area to eliminate an accident occurring in the future”.
“That Cork County Council repair small section the section of road on the L-1218-0 road at Island, Burnfort, Mallow”.
“That Cork County Council repairs the collapsed section of road on the L-1214-62 (Aghadallane to Carrigcleena) road which has been damaged for sometime”.
“That Cork County Council update members on the plans for the replacement of the hedging at the two roundabouts in Mallow as discussed at previous area meetings”.
