FINALLY!
The feasibility study on the proposed Mallow Northern Relief Road is back and it re-confirms what Cork County Council and the businesses of Mallow & the North Cork Area have being saying and proven to the TII and Department of Transport in the past – MALLOW NEEDS AND DESERVES ITS BYPASS!
The report confirms “The requirement for the N72-N73 Mallow Northern Relief Road stands on its own merits as a strategic congestion solution for Mallow Town east-west traffic”… “The cost/benefit assessment shows it is not dependent on any N20 upgrade needs in the vicinity of Mallow, nor is it apparent taht the viability of an N20 upgrade is dependent on the N72-N73 Northern Relief Road”…..
The Council have sent the report to TII this week with a formal request for approval and funding in order to proceed to take the Mallow Northern Relief Road to the next stage which is for detailed design and planning stage. This is crucial for Mallow and North Cork and the TII and the Government can no longer hold back on funding this worthwhile project. Everybody is aware of the traffic congestion Mallow Town Centre suffers and we all need to push for this critical piece on infrastructure to proceed ASAP.
I will endeavor to keep constituents updated further as I receive it…..
