More than 200 families will be feeling a lot cosier this winter as Cork County Council is to insulate a large proportion of their council houses in North Cork.
Works include attic and wall insulation, lagging boilers and draft proofing windows and doors. Cork County Council has prioritised an initial 200 houses in need of insulation and works will commence this coming week in homes across Kanturk, Newmarket, Boherbue, Ballydesmond, Kiskeam, Millstreet, Lyre, Dromahane, Buttevant, Mallow, Churchtown & Ballyclough. A second phase of insulation works will be rolled out in 2014.
Welcoming the insulation works, local Independent Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea said, “This phase of home insulation works across North Cork will be of huge benefit to more than 200 families in the area. The cost of energy and electricity is escalating every day and I am delighted that Cork County Council is now in the position to start insulating these homes. This will help the families involved reduce their energy and fuel costs and to have a cosier home this winter”.
