New rates scheme encourages new businesses to Mallow

New and emerging businesses in Mallow Town are to be offered financial assistance to offset the cost of rates on their new business for up to two years.

Mallow Town Council is to implement the new Business Start  Up Scheme in order to offer all new businesses opening in the town council catchment area grant aid which will effectively cancel out the cost of commercial rates on their premises for the first year and 50% of rates for the second year.

Welcoming the news, local Independent Cllr.John Paul O Shea said This is a wonderful initiative for Mallow Town which follows on from a successful introduction of a similar scheme in Cobh last year. I am delighted that new and budding entrepreneurs setting up business in Mallow can now be offered financial assistance which will offset 100% of the cost of the rates on the premises in year 1 and 50% in year two. The scheme will also assist in the letting of empty premises in the town as it is focused on giving assistance to those who choose to open up their business in a premised that has been vacant for over two years. It is important to get the message out there now that Mallow is open for business and that this innovative scheme is available to people who want to start a business in Mallow.

Full details on the scheme are available from Mallow Town Council on 022 21542.
