One Hour Free Parking in Mallow for Christmas

“You can now shop at your ease” in Mallow this Christmas as everyone will get one hour free parking in the public car parks in the town.

This was the overwhelming view of the members of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of Cork County Council at their recent monthly meeting when the proposal to offer one hour free parking to people coming to shop in Mallow was unanimously approved.

The one hour free parking in all public car parks will commence on Friday 28th November next and remain in place until Wednesday 24th December. All car parks in the town will be allowing the first hour free parking and if people wish to stay longer, they can do so by paying the modest parking charges which is as low as 20 cents for 15 minutes. The current arrangements of free parking before 10am and after 5pm on Monday to Saturday and free parking all day Sunday remain unchanged and in place.

Welcoming the announcement of the one hour free parking in Mallow, Chairman of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District, Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea (Ind) said “The one hour free parking in Mallow for Christmas is a very timely boost for the town and one we should all support. The Municipal District has worked proactively with Mallow Chamber on this initiative which I am delighted has come to a successful conclusion”.

Patrons coming to Mallow town are reminded that traffic wardens will still be on duty within the town in order to maintain the flow of traffic to and from the town. When you come to Mallow, your first hour will be free parking. If you need to stay longer in the car park, you will need to ensure you have a parking ticket displayed from when the one hour free parking finishes. Also, in order to keep the turnover of car parking on the Main Street of Mallow, parking remains limited to one hour.

Endorsing the new parking arrangements for the Christmas period “President of Mallow Chamber, Kevin O’ Keeffe said “After many years lobbying, this is a great boost for Mallow and hopefully will keep people shopping in Mallow this Christmas. Shopping locally is less stressful than travelling to the city, spending hours in long queues, so now with the first hour free parking in Mallow, you can hit the shops in your own time at no extra cost”.
