A commitment by Cork County Council to carry out an extensive review of traffic flow in Charleville has been welcomed by Cork North West Fine Gael General Election candidate Councillor John Paul O’Shea.
Cllr. O’Shea requested the traffic review at the October meeting of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal Authority, specifically to consider the following: right turning traffic as you exit from New Line onto N20, right turning traffic as you exit from Broad Street onto N20, and re-location of bus stops within Town centre to more suitable locations.
“I have had a lot of representation of this issue from people living and working in Charleville,” Cllr. O’Shea said. “The M20 is still a number of years away so in the meantime, something should be done to improve traffic flow in the town. I welcome the commitment by Council engineers to carry out an extensive review of traffic flow and look forward to seeing their findings and recommendations.”
The review of traffic flow will include liaisons with local householders and businesses, something Clllr. O’Shea welcomed. “Before any recommendations are made, it is essential to hear the views and opinions of locals, the people who experience the traffic everyday in the town and whose voices should be hear.”
