Under the Turnkey Development calls for proposals issued by Cork County Council last year, this development was selected as a key turnkey project whereby these 25 houses, which will be constructed privately, will be made fully available for Council use once complete.
As well as the visit to see the ongoing construction of this key residential development, Minister English also viewed plans for a 12-house construction, also in Kanturk. This development located in Bluepool, Kanturk will see eight two bedroom houses constructed as well and four three bedroom houses. Minister English also viewed plans to develop 10 houses in West End, Newmarket which is currently in the planning stages of development.

O’Shea said: “The Minister is part of a team working immensely hard to address the housing shortfall we currently have in this country and so it was my pleasure to invite him to Kanturk to see the fruits of that labour. Construction of the 25-house residential development, as we saw, is progressing very well and I look forward to see these houses available on the Council’s Choice Based Letting website during 2019. We can also see other housing projects like Bluepool, Kanturk & West End, Newmarket coming on stream during 2019 which is indeed very welcome. There is also four units to be constructed in Love Lane, Charleville for Charleville Shertered Housing in conjunction with Cork County Council. I look forward to continuing to work with my Government colleague in the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Cllr. Gerard Murphy and the Minister over the coming weeks and months in progressing more housing opportunities for the North Cork area.”
