O’Shea Wishes Boherbue Well Ahead of Pride of Place Awards

O’Shea Wishes Boherbue Well Ahead of Pride of Place Awards

Cork North West Fine Gael General Election candidate Councillor John Paul O’Shea has wished the community of Boherbue all the best ahead of this weekend’s IPB Pride of Place Awards.

Boherbue Tidy Towns Group is one of four Cork communities nominated by Cork County Council for this year’s Awards, along with Ballinhassig Village Association, Beara Tourism Development Ltd and Seven Heads Peninsula Tourism & Courtmacsherry Development Association.

The Awards will take place in Kilkenny on Saturday, November 30th and are there to recognise the work being done to create viable, vibrant and visible communities while giving the local authority the opportunity to participate in the heart of communities and contribute to their growth in a positive and impactful way.

IPB Pride of Place is an all-island competition that acknowledges the work that communities are doing throughout the country. Judging for this prestigious, allisland competition took place in June over the course of two days, during which representatives from all four Cork communities demonstrated their commitment and contribution to the growth of vibrant and viable communities in their areas.

Wishing Boherbue the best of luck, Cllr. O’Shea commented: “Boherbue Tidy Towns Group has done outstanding work to raise the profile of its communities and indeed the county as a whole. It has been a busy year for the Group and they are a worthy representative of County Cork in Pride of Place Awards. The Group has shown real commitment and dedication to their community and I wish them all of the best for Saturday’s Award Night.”

Tim Lucey, Chief Executive of Cork County Counciladded: “Partnership with communities is vital to the work of Cork County Council. As a local authority, we are privileged to have such strong communities to work alongside. The IPB Pride of Place Awards provide the perfect opportunity for us to recognise their work and I wish our nominees the very best of luck in this all-island competition.

Now in its 17th year, the IPB Pride of Place competition has enjoyed tremendous success and continues to grow in prestige and popularity year on year.
