Cork County Council has today published the proposed amendments to the eight Municipal District Local Area Plans.
The amendments are open for public consultation from today, Tuesday 2nd May 2017 to Tuesday 30th May 2017 and submissions on the amendments are hereby invited up to 4pm on Tuesday 30th May 2017. Submissions on the proposed amendments can be made through the Local Area Plan review website at http://corklocalareaplans.com/
The Proposed Amendments to the Draft Local Area Plans for each Municipal District has been prepared following detailed consideration of the submissions and observations received from members of the public and the deliberations of the County Council concerning the plans.
The adopted amendments combined with those parts of the Draft Local Areas Plans not affected by the Proposed Amendments will form the new Local Area Plans which will be adopted on the 24th July 2017 and come into effect 4 weeks later on 21st August 2017.
It should be noted that these new Local Area Plans do not include the former Town Councils functional areas and will not replace the nine Town Development Plans adopted by the former Town Councils of Cobh, Clonakilty, Fermoy, Kinsale, Macroom, Mallow, Midleton, Skibbereen and Youghal. The current Town Plans will remain enforce until December 2020.
In order to make sure Cork County Council has the best plan, it is important that the people who will be affected by the proposed amendments get involved in the making of the plan and have a say in how their area develops.
Therefore the Council is inviting submissions on the Proposed Amendments to the Draft Local Area Plans. All written submissions received by the closing date will be considered in the making of the new Draft Local Area Plans. Submissions will be detailed in the Chief Executive’s Report to be submitted to the Elected Members in June 2017.
