Quit for Good on ‘No Smoking Day’ with HSE South West Advice and Support

Quit for Good on ‘No Smoking Day’ with HSE South West Advice and Support

Change your life by choosing National No Smoking Day on Ash Wednesday (18 February) as your QUIT date. HSE South West is offering free support and medication to anyone hoping to quit the habit for good.

Smoking is a leading cause of heart attack and stroke. A heart attack is a serious medical emergency where the supply of blood to the heart is suddenly blocked. A stroke is a life-threatening condition when the blood supply to part of the brain is cut off by a blockage or a ruptured blood vessel.

HSE South West Stop Smoking Advisors are ready to help you start your QUIT plan and support you along the way. They offer one-to-one advice and provide free Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) in the form of sprays, mists, lozenges and patches. Your advisor will help you decide which is best for your quit journey.

HSE South West Tobacco Lead Anna Burns said:

“Most smokers want to quit – for their health, their family, and their wallet! But overcoming a smoking addiction isn’t easy, so don’t go it alone. Use the free supports that are available to you through HSE South West and take back control of your health.

“You are four times more likely to quit with the support of trained Stop Smoking advisors and the free medications available through HSE South West. Most smokers will have tried to quit before – don’t go it alone this time. Lean on the supports that are available to you and this time, you will succeed. We are here to help.”
