At today’s monthly Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Meeting of Cork County Council, there was unanimous support from all six members of the District in support of changing the current parking arrangements in Mallow to as follows:
– Provide a One Hour Free Parking in all off and on street public car spaces in the town
– Extend the maximum stay on the Main St. from one hour to two hours
– Simplify the current parking regime by charging 80c per hour in all parking areas with all day parking remaining at €3″.
This joint motion from myself, Cllr. Fitzgerald & Cllr. Mullane is as a result of a request from Mallow Chamber, which I support 100% and the majority of people from Mallow and people outside of the town who shop in Mallow also.
The Executive of Cork County Council will now produce a report for members outlining the effects of this change will have and how these changes will be implemented, but it is my intention that as Chairman of Kanturk/Mallow Municipal, the above proposal as agreed today should be and will be implemented from next month as outlined above.
