Cork County Council has announced the launch of a Streetscape Enhancement Scheme for towns across the eight Municipal Districts of County Cork.
Tenants or owners of occupied buildings in key locations within towns may apply for financial assistance to improve the appearance of these buildings under the scheme, with priority being given to occupied commercial premises.
The overall objective of the scheme is streetscape enhancement to improve the appearance of main thoroughfares in towns. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis having regard to positive impact on the streetscape.
The scheme includes four different support measures, ranging from 60% grants for works to 100% for materials. Aspects covered include painting and improvements to shop-front signage as well as the cost of materials.
Guidance is available from Cork County Council on colour palette and design, conservation of traditional Irish shop fronts, and the use of the Irish language in signage.
Applications are now being accepted online at www.corkcoco.ie. The scheme closing date is Friday, the 22nd of August 2025 and successful applicants will be contacted directly.
