Summer Festivals in Cork Gets Cash Boost – O’Shea

Summer Festivals in Cork Gets Cash Boost – O’Shea

Art for the Heart – Doneraile, Rockchapel Gathering Festival and Feile na Laoch in Coolea,  have been given additional funding to enhance their summer festivals, Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea has said.

Deputy O’Shea explained: “The Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan TD has today announced a funding allocation of €293,252 for 64 events to support small scale local festivals and summer schools taking place around Ireland in 2025.

Art for the Heart – Doneraile was one of the successful applicants and have been given €4,800 to support their recent festival.

The second successful candidate was Rockchapel Gathering Festival in Cork and have been given €5,000 to assist with costs associated with their festival, which was a very special event for people living here and the surrounding areas.

The third successful candidate was Feile na Laoch in Coolea who was granted €4,800 for this year’s festival.

Deputy O’Shea said “The scheme is designed to assist local cultural events which may not be eligible for funding for larger scale events which can be supported by Fáilte Ireland, the Arts Council and similar bodies. This is an important acknowledgement of the richness that culture and the arts brings to all our lives, along with the opportunity to come together as a community to socialise and share traditions.

“I want to pay tribute to the volunteers, organisers and artists who worked throughout the winter months to prepare for this year’s festival, which provides such entertainment and brings joy to so many every year. We rely on their talent, generosity and dedication to deliver this event and appreciate their hard work” added Deputy O’Shea.
