Uisce Éireann: Outage – Scarteen Road, Newmarket, Co. Cork – from 10pm Tuesday 16th September to 2am Wednesday 17th September 2025

As part of the National Leakage Reduction Programme, Uisce Éireann is carrying out essential works on the water network on Scarteen Road, Newmarket, Co. Cork to facilitate valve installation works, to provide a more secure and reliable water supply. As part of these works, there will be disruptions to the water supply from 10pm on Tuesday 16 September until 2am on Wednesday 17 September.
The areas that may be impacted by water interruptions and low pressure in Newmarket, Co. Cork include Scarteen Lower, Newmarket, Demesne, Garaunawarrig Upper, Duarrigle, Killowen, Copsefield, Mountkeeffe, Barleyhill, Scarteen Upper and surrounding areas.
A traffic management plan will be in place between for the duration of these works, in the form of a Road Closure on Scarteen Road. Emergency and local access will be maintained at all times.
Following the completion of works, please allow time for water pressure to return to normal. It can take 2-3 hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network.
Uisce Éireann is investing a further €250 million annually up to the end of 2030 directed at fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply.
