Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development to hear update on Auto-Enrolment Retirement Savings Scheme (My Future Fund)

Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development to hear update on Auto-Enrolment Retirement Savings Scheme (My Future Fund)

The Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 28 January, for an update on matters relating to the Auto-Enrolment Retirement Savings Scheme (My Future Fund).

The meeting at 9:30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from officials from the Department of Social Protection.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy John Paul O’Shea said: “Auto-enrolment is the new savings system designed to help around 760,000 workers to begin saving for their retirement. People who do not have a pension, earn more than €20,000 per year and are aged between 23 and 60 will be automatically enrolled into the new system.

The Department of Social Protection has said the vast majority of employers with eligible staff, approximately 85,000 employers with more than 675,000 employees, have registered their business details to date.

“The scheme commenced on 1 January 2026 and the Committee looks forward to a comprehensive update from Department officials on the introduction of auto-enrolment following its roll out and the establishment of the State body which will administer the scheme.”

The Joint Committee on Social Protection, Rural and Community Development has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
