Feb 24, 2026
Deputy John Paul O’Shea TD and local Councillor Trish Murphy have warmly welcomed confirmation from Cork County Counicl that 12 homes in Moylan Park, Kiskeam, have been selected for significant Energy Efficiency Works in 2026.
The programme of works will include attic insulation, external wall insulation, the replacement of windows and doors where necessary, and the installation of modern heat pump systems etc. These upgrades will greatly improve the energy performance of the homes, making them warmer, more comfortable, and more cost-effective to run.
Welcoming the announcement, Deputy O’Shea said “This is very positive news for the residents of Moylan Park. These works will significantly enhance the quality of life for the families living there by reducing heat loss, lowering energy bills, and improving overall comfort in their homes. With energy costs remaining a major concern for households, investment like this is essential. It also supports our broader climate goals by reducing carbon emissions and improving the energy rating of local authority housing.”
Councillor Trish Murphy added “I am delighted to see Moylan Park included in the Council’s 2026 Energy Efficiency programme. These energy upgrades are not just about insulation or new systems — they are about delivering warmer homes, healthier living conditions, and long-term savings for residents.
This investment demonstrates a strong commitment to rural communities like Kiskeam and ensures that local authority tenants are benefiting from modern, energy-efficient housing standards.”
Both representatives acknowledged the work of Cork County Council in advancing the programme and prioritising investment in housing stock across Cork.
Deputy O’Shea and Councillor Murphy said they will continue to work closely with the Council to ensure the timely delivery of the works in 2026 and to advocate for further energy efficiency upgrades across Cork North West.
