Christmas Pop-up Arts and Crafts Exhibition & Sales Opportunity in North Cork

Christmas Pop-up Arts and Crafts Exhibition & Sales Opportunity in North Cork

Calling Artists, Craft Makers and Artisan producers in the North Cork area

Cork County Council in association with Avondhu Blackwater Partnerhsip, is planning a Pop-up Christmas Arts and Crafts exhibition in Mallow. This initiative comes under Cork County Council’s Project  ARCC – A Real Cork Christmas which is an initiative that aims to support towns and create a Christmas Atmosphere this year.

Recognising that the arts and crafts sector has been profoundly impacted by Covid-19, Cork County Council hopes that this initiative will serve to boost awareness of the creative sector in Mallow and beyond, as well as provide a much needed boost for locally based creative artists.

The Council’s Arts Office is seeking expressions of interest from visual artists, craft makers and artisan producers interested in showing their work in Mallow in December.  Artists who work in any static visual media will be considered, including painting, print, photography, drawing, textiles, ceramics, wood, glass, jewellery and wall or floor standing sculpture. We would also welcome proposals from artisan food producers and would endeavour to provide a sales opportunity for this grouping as well.

Depending on the level of interest we are hoping to use two locations in Mallow for pop-up shops – West End Art Studios and the former Tourist Office at the Town Hall. The venues will contain a selection of arts and crafts products along with some food produce from the local North Cork area. It is envisaged that the shop will open Thurs – Saturday for the weekends in December. It may also open Sunday 20th and in the week leading up to Christmas.

It will be free to exhibit and artists/stockists may be asked to help man the space on a rota basis during opening hours.

Please note that we will adhere to the public health guidelines relating to events that will apply in December and this will determine how we proceed in terms of artist numbers, exhibition formats etc.

We are hoping to particularly support makers and artists based in the Mallow /Kanturk and Fermoy/ Mitchelstown Municipal areas.

To submit your expression of interest, please complete this application form and include the following information

  • Name and contact details
  • A short proposal describing the kind of work you would like to exhibit
  • Upload five images of your current work
  • A brief bio about yourself as an artist /maker.

The deadline for applications is Saturday 21st November 2020.
