Cork North West Fine Gael General Election candidate Councillor John Paul O’Shea has welcomed the appointment of a contractor to carry out refurbishments at Kanturk Playground.
Cork-based Browne Brothers has been appointed as the contractor for the works, which are set to cost in the region of €100,000.
Cllr. O’Shea said: “I am pleased that a contractor has now been appointed to undertake these refurbishment works at Kanturk Playground, which is a hugely important amenity within the town. I have had many requests to my office seeking upgrades to the existing playground, following very successful playground refurbishments being completed previously in Banteer, Kilbrin and Newmarket.
“In 2019 I arranged a public meeting to discuss this refurbishment and other plans for the town park. Cork County Council is now liaising closely with the Playground Refurbishment Committee of Kanturk and District Community Council to upgrade the playground within the park.
“There has been a huge effort from the local community in Kanturk to refurbish the park and playground, including a number of community days which the Tidy Towns was also involved in. For me, this highlights the great community spirit within Kanturk.
“I am now looking forward to seeing this exiting refurbishment completed during 2020,” Cllr. O’Shea said.
