Deputy O’Shea Wishes Cork North West Pride of Place Entries the Very Best of Luck

Deputy John Paul O’Shea TD has wished Mallow Search & Rescue, Kiskeam Village and Macroom the very best of luck as they take part in the 2026 IPB Pride of Place Awards judging this week.

The three Cork North West communities are among five County Cork entries being visited by IPB Pride of Place adjudicators John Briggs and Brendan McGrath during their three-day adjudication visit across the county.

The IPB Pride of Place Awards recognise the commitment, innovation and community spirit of local groups and volunteers who work tirelessly to improve their communities and make them better places to live, work and visit.

Deputy O’Shea said “I want to wish Mallow Search & Rescue, Kiskeam Village and Macroom the very best of luck as they take part in the IPB Pride of Place judging this week.

“All three communities have so much to be proud of, and I know the tremendous amount of work that is carried out by volunteers and community organisations on the ground throughout the year.

“Pride of Place is about recognising the people who give their time, energy and commitment to making their communities better places for everyone. It is a fitting opportunity to showcase the fantastic work being done across Cork North-West.

“I have no doubt that the adjudicators will see first-hand the community spirit, pride and dedication that exists in Mallow, Kiskeam and Macroom.

“I want to commend everyone involved in preparing for the judging and wish all three entries every success. Regardless of the outcome, reaching the national adjudication stage is a fantastic achievement and something the communities involved should be extremely proud of.”»

Deputy O’Shea also acknowledged the wider contribution of community and voluntary groups across Cork North-West, highlighting the important role they play in strengthening local communities and creating a greater sense of pride and belonging.
