The April meeting of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District of Cork County Council will take place on Thursday, 2nd April 2015 in the County Council Offices at Anabella, Mallow.
These meetings are held once a month, where the six councillors representing the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Area meet with the engineers that cover the area.
Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of three motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to day to day services provided by Cork County Council, such as roads, water, housing, waste water etc… The engineers have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.
My motions for the April meeting are as follows:
Joint motion from Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea, Cllr. Danjoe Fitzgerald & Cllr. Melissa Mullane:
“As a result of a request from Mallow Chamber, that the Executive of the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District produce a report for members to amend the current parking arrangements in Mallow to as follows:
- Provide a One Hour Free Parking in all off and on street public car spaces in the town
- Extend the maximum stay on the Main St. from one hour to two hours
- Simplify the current parking regime by charging 80c per hour in all parking areas with all day parking remaining at €3″.
Cllr. John Paul O’ Shea’s motions:
“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District Meeting install cameras in the council car park of Tubrid Well, Millstreet in order to prevent cars being broken into and illegal dumping occurring, both which are happening presently”.
“That the Kanturk/Mallow Municipal District would arrange a litter pick from Mallow Hospital to the Charleville boundary as this particular stretch of road is extremely littered by flytipping. A similar exercise was carried out on the Rathduff to Cork Section of the N20 in recent weeks which has proven very successful”.
