Latest update on water situation in Mallow & North Cork – 2nd January 2011

Cork County Council plumbing crews are working through the weekend identifying and repairing breaks / leaks. The Public are asked to conserve water and to check unoccupied dwellings / properties / farms for any leaks /or breaks.

Cork County Council acknowledges and appreciates the continued co-operation of water consumers.

Most areas of Mallow Town now have water restored, at lower than normal pressure. Reservoir is still low. Renewed attempts will be made tonight to get water to the St. Anthony’s Park/Spa Glen/Ironmines Area. The Gooldshill Estate area is still without a supply due to a break (not yet located) in the Gortnagraige supply.

Tankers will continue to supply water daily at Gooldshill Housing Estate (on the entrance road from the Cork Road) & Bowling Green car park from 12.00noon to 6.00pm.

Repair crews are working throughout the Mallow Area over the week end and this may lead to short term disruptions to supplies while repairs are taking place.

There will continue to be intermittent disruptions to supplies in the Rockforest / Killavullen Area while breaks are being identified and repaired.

There are no significant problems in the Mitchelstown area eventhough water levels in reservoirs are still low.

There are no significant problems in the Millstreet Area and water levels in reservoirs have recovered.

Low water pressure will be experienced in parts of Ballyhooly and in Conna village

There are currently no problems in the Charleville area eventhough water levels in reservoirs are still low. Killaree is particulary low and further cut offs may be necessary here in the coming days.

The reservoirs in Kanturk and Newmarket are still recovering. The high areas of Newmarket can still expect some interruption to there supply.
