The December meeting of the Northern Committee of Cork County Council will take place on Monday, 15th December 2014 in the County Council Offices at Annabella, Mallow.
These meetings are held once a month, where the twelve councillors representing the Kanturk/Mallow & Fermoy Municipal District Areas meet with the executive and staff from the various directorates in which they cover. In December, we will focus on the Housing Directorate of Cork County Council.
Councillors are entitled to submit a maximum of three motions in advance of the meeting on issues relating to the directorate being discussed on the day. Directorates include roads, water, housing, divisional services, environment, waste water, etc… The engineers have a written response to present at the meeting which is then discussed.
My motions for the December Housing meeting are as follows:
“That the Housing Directorate make provisions to replace the small number of pellet boilers (I believe we have five in North Cork) with solid fuel stoves as the pellet boilers never worked to either the council or tenants satisfaction”.
“That the Housing Directorate gives a detailed report on the number of offers of allocations made in North Cork to date in 2014, and how many of these were refused. The report should also outline the reasons for refusal”.
“That the Housing Directorate produces a report outlining out of its current housing stock in North Cork, how many houses remain with single glaze windows”.
