O’Shea TD Welcomes Delivery of Over 870 New Social Homes in Cork in 2025

O’Shea TD Welcomes Delivery of Over 870 New Social Homes in Cork in 2025

Cork North West Fine Gael TD John Paul O’Shea has welcomed the delivery of hundreds of new social homes across Cork in 2025, saying the figures show that significant progress is being made in increasing housing supply.

Deputy O’Shea said that 400 new social homes were built and occupied in Cork County during 2025, while a further 472 new social homes were delivered in Cork City.

“I’m delighted to see that 400 new build social homes were delivered in Cork County in 2025, with 472 additional homes delivered in Cork City, representing real progress in addressing housing demand across Cork.

“Behind these figures are the people, individuals, couples and families, who will now have a secure place to call home. For many, this marks a fresh start and provides the stability that comes with having a home of their own.

Deputy O’Shea added “Increasing housing supply is a core priority for Fine Gael in government and today’s announcement shows how progress is already being made. Across the country there were over 9,000 new-build social homes delivered in 2025, which is the highest level of delivery on record. The evidence of our commitment to housing is made clear in these figures and represents a new start and a bright future for those individuals, couples, and families who will live in them.

“We must continue to build on this progress and keep delivering more homes for Cork. There is serious momentum in housing and people across Cork can be reassured that Fine Gael is working hard to deliver more housing,” concluded Deputy O’Shea.
